NFL Draft Round 2

Jimmy Claussen appears to be shocked that his name was called in the NFL Draft Round 2, especially after seeing Tim Tebow taken in front of him. However, Claussen was still very happy to be selected in the second round by the Carolina Panthers. The Notre Dame quarterback was taken 48th, that is the 16th selection within the 2nd round with the NFL Draft.

Claussen said of his draft situation:

"Obviously I needed to obtain picked as high as I could," Clausen said in a conference call with Charlotte-area reporters. "But at the end during the day, everything happens for the reason. I couldn't be happier to be part of the Panthers organization."

Claussen will join a Panthers team which will give him good quality early playing time. They recently released QB Jake Delhomme and have put Matt Moore within the starting role. Claussen said during his conference call earlier that he's going to try to function as the team start from the first day. Good goal for that rookie entering the pro's.

Many had anticipated to see Claussen just do it of Tim Tebow, but were shocked on Thursday when Tebow went #25 to the Denver Broncos. Claussen had toe surgery back January 2010, and was also attacked over his "lack of leadership skills." It's still unknown why the Broncos were so crazy about Tebow, nonetheless they may know something the analysts don't. Time will tell.

Unfortunately the NFL Draft round 2 wasn't where another promising QB went. The other quarterback who many had been wondering about was Colt McCoy from Texas. He went even later, inside the third round along at the #85 pick overall to the Cleveland Browns.
