Tennessee Titans name Mike Munchak their new head coach

NASHVILLE, Tennessee — The Tennessee Titans named Mike Munchak as their new head coach on Monday, replacing Jeff Fisher with a man who has been with the franchise since his NFL playing days.

Munchak was the first candidate interviewed to replace Fisher and had been considered the front-runner as the favored man for the job of team owner Bud Adams.

It will be the first head coaching job for Munchak, who will turn 51 in March, .

This will be the first head coaching job for Munchak, who has been serving as the Titans' offensive line coach.

Munchak, who turns 51 in March, was drafted by the franchise -- then the Houston Oilers -- in 1982 and played 159 regular season games before retiring in 1994.

The offensive lineman was elected to nine Pro Bowls and became the fifth player from the franchise inducted into the Hall of Fame.
