Queen Rania angers Jordan tribes

In an unprecedented move, tribes in Jordan have lodged the public criticism of a member of the royal family.

Although the actual unrest in the actual Middle East offers inspired protests in Jordan, the actual demonstrators had already been careful not in order to attack the actual royal family. Any criticism from the royal family might result in a three-year prison sentence.

However, 36 tribes have issued a public statement accusing Queen Rania, King Abdullah II's wife, associated with "corruption." The actual tribes make upward about 40 percent from the population and wield considerable political sway.

"We call upon the actual king in order to return to the treasury land and farms given in order to the actual Yassin family (of the queen). The actual land belongs to the Jordanian people," 36 tribal leaders said this week in a joint statement, Agence France-Presse reports.

Queen Rania, the Palestinian by birth, is actually a good international celebrity and has been often noted for her commitment to charity work geared toward women's education.

However, her international fame has led to homegrown criticism. The actual statement criticizes her lavish lifestyle and suggests she has helped relocate thousands associated with Palestinians in order to Jordan. AFP said there are fears that the addition of more Palestinians might "facilitate Israeli plans in order to turn Jordan into the substitute homeland for the Palestinians."
