Oprah goes mobile with iPhone, Android and BlackBerry apps

Oprah is currently officially mobile. The release of her mobile apps today span the gamut of major platforms - including titles for the iPhone, BlackBerry, Palm and Android. It Percents a hefty and widespread release, with ambitions of reaching every consumer on every cell phone. Given Oprahs latest moves towards extending her brand having an evening show, the empire that already covers print, film, television and social media marketing can claim the mobile industry too.

Which has a first go through the $1.99 Oprah Mobile app for your iPhone and Android devices, The truth is that I had been surprised to search for the app's icon does not feature Oprahs image simply her name. With Oprah celebrating her 100th magazine cover, I imagined how the mobile apps would be more distinctly branded.

Upon opening the app, you will be also prompted to look at the No Phone Zone pledge. The pledge itself, which encourages you to definitely avoid cellphone use while driving, is decidedly Oprah. I doubt most users willing to pay for the app are going to be cautious about providing their contact information in their pledge. For Android users, however, skipping the pledge process may restrict opening the app.

As soon as you're within the app, its easy enough to access a fantastic area of the moguls content, but it’s a lot of the same content you can already find for free on the website. Emphasizing lifestyle articles, Oprah Mobile gives you methods for health, spirituality, sexuality and even home decor. You can set alerts for brand new content, see the most used, tune in to Oprah radio, and partake in polls. Your settings options are limited for iPhone and Android users, focusing totally on your alerts options.

Oprah exclusives, including show clips, photos and video contentare all available from the menu options on both the iPhone as well as the Android versions, though this menu is more readily accessible on the iPhone. Content could be shared with friends, with Android users having the perk of accessing other apps from the Share menu to get your house so. This is especially helpful, as Oprah Mobile is lacking a separate social sharing feature.

NFL Draft Round 2

Jimmy Claussen appears to be shocked that his name was called in the NFL Draft Round 2, especially after seeing Tim Tebow taken in front of him. However, Claussen was still very happy to be selected in the second round by the Carolina Panthers. The Notre Dame quarterback was taken 48th, that is the 16th selection within the 2nd round with the NFL Draft.

Claussen said of his draft situation:

"Obviously I needed to obtain picked as high as I could," Clausen said in a conference call with Charlotte-area reporters. "But at the end during the day, everything happens for the reason. I couldn't be happier to be part of the Panthers organization."

Claussen will join a Panthers team which will give him good quality early playing time. They recently released QB Jake Delhomme and have put Matt Moore within the starting role. Claussen said during his conference call earlier that he's going to try to function as the team start from the first day. Good goal for that rookie entering the pro's.

Many had anticipated to see Claussen just do it of Tim Tebow, but were shocked on Thursday when Tebow went #25 to the Denver Broncos. Claussen had toe surgery back January 2010, and was also attacked over his "lack of leadership skills." It's still unknown why the Broncos were so crazy about Tebow, nonetheless they may know something the analysts don't. Time will tell.

Unfortunately the NFL Draft round 2 wasn't where another promising QB went. The other quarterback who many had been wondering about was Colt McCoy from Texas. He went even later, inside the third round along at the #85 pick overall to the Cleveland Browns.

Watch out for CopWatch

CHICAGO – Minutes after a suburban Chicago police officer was charged with striking a motorist with his baton, prosecutors handed out copies of a video showing the beating — taken by a dashboard camera on the officer's own squad car.

In California, after a transit cop and an unruly train passenger slammed against a wall during a struggle and shattered a station window last fall, video from a bystander's cell phone was all over the Internet before the window was fixed.

The same cell phones, surveillance cameras and other video equipment often used to assist police are also catching officers on tape, changing the nature of police work — for better and worse.

Some say cameras are exposing behavior that police have gotten away with for years. But others contend the videos, which often show a snippet of an incident, turn officers into villains simply for doing their jobs, making them targets of lawsuits and discipline from bosses buckling to public pressure.
